BSF Group C Engineers – PHYSICAL STANDARDS

Selection procedure

  • Written Examination
  • Physical standards test (PST)
  • Physical efficiency test (PET)
  • Practical/trade test
  • Medical examination
  • Merit List

The selection procedure for the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Draftsman Grade-III), Head Constable (Carpenter), Head Constable (Plumber), Constable (Sewerman), Constable (Generator Operator), Constable (Generator Mechanic) and Constable (Lineman) will be based on 02 phases namely,

FIRST PHASE – WRITTEN EXAMINATION

There will be a one composite paper for 02 hours duration. The questionnaire will be objective type with multiple choice of OMR based answer sheet and will consist of the following 03 subjects namely General English, General Awareness & Technical Subjects. There are total 100 questionaries & 100 total scores.

Questions: Each contain 20 questions

Technical Subjects Question & Marks: Each contain 60 marks

 

Qualifying marks of written exam
For General/EWS/OBC category candidates – 45%

For SC/ST category candidates – 40%

SECOND PHASE – WRITTEN EXAMINATION

The successful candidates in the first phase of the written test will appear before the selection board for the second phase which is Documentation, Physical Standards Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Practical/Trade Test & Medical Examination and Re-Medical Examination. They will be subjected to subsequent phase tests. Hopefuls must qualify individually for all stages of the second phase examination. Any claimant who does not qualify in any of the examinations will be removed from the recruitment process

 Documentation

  • Candidates will be disqualified if they do not submit original documents such as age, education / technical qualification, caste certificate, experience certificate.
Physical standards test (PST)

  • Eligible interviewees in the document will be sent through Physical Standards Test (PST).
  • The PST Selection Board will assess the height, chest and weight of the applicants as per the post-wise body standards mentioned above.
Physical efficiency test (PET)

  • Claimants who qualify in the Physical Standards Test (PST) will be eligible for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
  • Ex-servicemen do not have to go to PET. But PST and comprehensive medicine examination will be conducted.

For The Post Of ASI (Draftsman Grade-III)

Run Male:  1.6 Km in 10 minutes

Female: 1.6 Km in 12 minutes

Standing Broad Jump Male: 4 Feet 6 inch

Female: 3 feet

Clear the ditch Male:  6 feet

Female: 4 feet

Jump and reach Male:  7 feet (excluding 1 feet reach)

Female: 6 feet (excluding 1 feet reach)

For The Post Of HC (Carpenter), HC (Plumber), Constable (Sewerman), Constable (Generator Operator), Constable (Generator Mechanic) And Constable (Lineman)

Run Male:  1.6 Km in 6.5 minutes

Female: 800 Meters in 04 minutes

Long Jump Male:  11 Feet (03 chances to be given)

Female: 09 Feet (03 chances to be given)

High Jump Male:  3½ Feet (03 chances to be given)

Female: 03 Feet (03 chances to be given)

 

Practical/trade test

  • Contenders who have been declared eligible for the Second Phase Examination, i.e. Documents, PST & PET will be eligible to appear for the Practical/Trade Test
Medical examination

  • Eligible claimants at all of the above stages in written test, documentation, PST, PET and practical/ trade test will be subjected to a comprehensive medical examination which will be conducted by the Medical Board to assess their fitness.
  • If an aspirant is declared medically incompetent during a comprehensive medical examination, they will be admitted for a review medical examination (RME) if they sign and give written consent stating the reasons for disqualification.
Drawl of final merit list

Upon completion of the medical examination the qualifying list will be drawn up separately on the basis of the marks obtained by the applicants in the written examination on the basis of rank and category. Tie cases in marks will be resolved as follows

  1. Marks in written examination
  2. Date of Birth, with older candidates placed higher
  3. Alphabetical order in the first names of the candidates appears.
