Madras University Free Education scheme 2022 | Free Education Yojana in Madras University: The University of Chennai has launched a ‘Free Education Scheme’ to help economically backward students pursue higher education. The Scheme/ Yojana mainly helps such students get affiliated with the university and gain admission to graduate courses in self-funded colleges. The University of Madras will start the application process for admission under the Free Education Program for Poor Students to Enroll in Undergraduate (UG) Degree Courses in the affiliated colleges for the academic year 2022-23. Claimants interested in the Madras University Admission 2021 Free Education Scheme should note that the online application form and scheme details will be available on the University website www.unom.ac.in from June 23. General Instruction
- Those who have passed Class XII and have an annual family income of less than ₹ 3 lakh are eligible to enroll in this free education program by UNOM.
- The University of Chennai invites applications from those who have passed Class XII in 2021-22 and those who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Science for the academic year 2022-23 under the Free Education Scheme.
- Contenders’ annual family income should be less than 3 lakh.
- Priority will be given to economically backward students, orphans, children of widows, and first-generation graduates.
- Only online applications with scanned copies of all documents will be accepted, the university registrar said.
- Under the scheme, affiliated colleges, aided and self-funded colleges have decided to provide free education to two students each.
- Initially, UNOM started enrolling such students under this scheme in 2010-11.

STRUCTURES OF UNOM FREE EDUCATION YOJANA TO STUDENTS
In the academic year 2022-23, 3 free seats will be allotted to each college as regular seats of the college and above. Proper documentary evidence must be provided, otherwise, the application will be canceled During the application, the scanned documents must be uploaded and the original documents must be submitted during the counseling. - These 03 seats will be allocated to different categories
- 1/3 of the seats will be for widow’s children/ widower’s children/ orphan/ destitute children based on the marks obtained in the major subjects.
- 1/3 places will be given to first graduates/ disabled/ transgender based on marks obtained in major subjects.
- 1/3 seats will be given to merit students who get 80% marks in core subjects
- Students may be invited to counseling at a ratio of 1: 2 in each category
- It aims to help students pursue undergraduate courses
- Under this scheme, priority will be given to students from poor financial backgrounds, orphans, and children of widows.

Method to Apply: Free Education scheme in Madras University 2022 Online Registration 2022
Step 01: To register and Enroll under the Free Education Scheme, Go to the UNOM official website @ unom.ac.in
Step 02: Tap on the Announcements tab on the right side of the homepage and click on Madras University Free Education Program (MUFES) 2022-23
Step 03: Then read all the instructions displayed on the screen, scroll down and click ‘I Agree’.
Step 04: Now, Tap on Continue and enter basic details such as name, address, mobile number, and email id.
Step 05: After successful registration, go to the login page and log in with the user ID/registration number. And DOB as password
Step 06: Fill out the application form with the required details and upload the required documents.
Step 07: After uploading, click Submit.
Step 08: After successful submission, the form and documents will be checked by the concerned authorities and eligible students will be invited for consultation.
Step 09: Finally, Original documents should be submitted during counseling.
